Do you need to have the tire pressure monitors for the cruise to work? I have read every post on this issue and did all the checks and adjustments with no luck. I checked the fuse and power to the fuse, adjusted the two brake and one clutch switches, checked for codes (none) and still have had no success. Brake lights work fine. Speedometer works fine. My car is a 99 six speed but I have C6 wheels on it with no TPM's. Anyone have any other ideas on this cruise issue?
Thanks
Sometimes a misfire will not allow the cruise to be set----Whether in fact it is a real code or a false code-----If you car is modded--there is more chance of getting a "false" misfire code---However you can de-sensitize the mis-fire tables to prevent the codes--OR delete the codes permanently
( on an A4 a misfire will not allow the TC to lock as well)

I used the DIC. I had some codes (HVAC) and ambient light sensor low voltage but nothing for cruise. I also plugged my little code reader into the plug under the dash and got nothing there either. I will check the other electrical areas you suggested tomorrow.

I bought the car used so not sure of the mods I was told cam and exhaust work was done. I did not have any engine codes that I could see on the DIC or OBDII no engine light on, Are these the codes you refer to deleting permanently
I had a tumor taken out of my leg a while ago and a good chunk of my hamstrings with it so I would pretty well trade any of the rest of the options for cruise.
Thanks for your help.

Did you pull the codes or just expect them to show up in the DIC?
After reviewing the wiring diagram there are several possible fuses and a relay that could impact Cruise operation in addition to fuse 20 in the I/P fuse box. Under hood fuse box, check fuses 16, 19 and relay 42. In the IP fuse box check fuse 8 in addition to 20.
NO sometimes tuners simply delete the misfire codes in the diagnostic section of your tune--However this will NOT prevent the car for having false misfires--codes or not--The only way to eliminate the false misfire completelyis to desensitize your misfre tables in your tune---ALSO if your tranny has many miles it helps to lock the converter firmer by setting the TCC PWM table MINIMUM to about 70 %
OK
If you could scan those pags I would appreciate it. I have tried everthing else.
Thanks

Additionally you might try pulling the codes BEFORE you shut off the engine to see any that might get set while driving that might be deleted (not recorded as History). Before you shut off the ignition clear (reset) any messages in the DIC and then go about pulling the codes as you normally would. May be some codes set or maybe not. Worth trying......
This sounds complicated, do you require special equipment? Is this a dealer thing?
Thanks
