Default R&R O2 Wire Harness?

Does anyone know if I can remove and replace the wire bundle that contains the wires for my oxygen sensors on my Z06? I am having the hardest time finding the short that is blowing my O2 fuse and replacing the wires completely would solve my problem. It looks accessible, but I remember reading somewhere you cant do it without an engine pull. Anyone know for sure?

Thanks

Hi mate.

You should be able to unplug the o2 harness ,front and rear from the car harness. If you want to replace those wires you will be replacing the o2 sensors as well.

If you have stock exhaust manifolds it should be a bit easier.

Maybe check those wires first , then take a look at the car harness side.

Think you may be in the right area, heat etc could play a part.

Also the o2 harness has small metal clips that attach to the heat shield
under the car , never know could be one of the clips has cut through the harness some where .

If you do take the o2 sensors out just make a note of positon in the x pipe ,they cross over , ie drivers side goes to pass at the mid rear .

hope you get it sorted bud.

Thanks that was very helpful. I do have long tube headers on there. I melted wires originally, fixed them (I thought), but now my fuse is blowing again. If I can get the harness off I'd be able to get a better look at the damage and repair it correctly. As of right now nothing is touching the headers, but I can't find the damage when I removed all the tape I could reach.

Checking the clips will be the first thing I do though, thanks

Are you talking about upstream or downstream?

Since you have the LTs you probably have an extension harness which can be removed and replaced.
Someone was talking about the X-pipe and the crossover, that is for the downstream sensors.

The original wires before my extensions are the ones that were damaged. It looks like the harness goes right into the engine from what I remember. They go up past to where I can reach. I just remember feeling like with some effort I can pull that big plug out where all the wires meet the engine, but I never heard of anyone doing it so wasn't sure if it was actually possible.
