Well since I'm replacing my headers, it is also time to replace my absolutley worthless, ridiculously expensive Nology wires (they were already on when I purchased the car.) I see that alot of you are using Taylor wires. I would like some input, should I go with Taylor Spiro-Pro or the 10.4mm Taylor Pro race wire? Also which of the NGK plugs? My mechanic also wants me to get insulation boots any recommendations? Thanks, Jo Ann
I put the Spiro Pro's on my '01 coupe along with a set of NGK TR55 plugs. Now I get lots of ignition noise through the radio. I don't hear it when I'm using the CD changer, just the radio.
There was a thread over in the Audio/Electronics section a couple of weeks ago about noise problems with the Taylors. It doesn't seem to be a widespread problem, but several people using the Taylors also reported ignition noise. Some cars seem to have a problem with it, some don't. I measured the stock wires (10 months old, less than 4,000 miles) at 300 ohms. The Taylors were just under 200. 195 or so IIRC.
I'm going to replace my Taylors with a set of MSD wires and see if things don't improve.
I've heard the Spiro-Pro generate noise on the radio. I have the Taylor Thundervolt 10.4mm and they are excellent and clear the header pipes nicely. I'm also using the Taylor Fire Sleeves and those are very nice also. For spark - NGK TR55's. Got 'em all at thunderracing.com.
I've heard lots of good comments about MSD's as well. The Magnecor's are very good but I replaced them with the Taylor's when I put my headers in for better clearance. Pic below:
I had the Taylor wires on for about 3 or 4 months and never had a problem with them and I listen to my radio/cd quite a bit. I recently switched to Magnecors because they were given to me as a present. I can see why many people stated that the Magnecor wires would come off sometimes. Installing them onto the plugs wasnt a problem, they went right on and clicked when in place, but when putting them into the coils the center connector doesnt stay centered while inserting it and moves off to the side of the male coil pin. You really have to take your time and make sure you get that "click" when connecting the magnecors to the coil.
You can find both Magnecore and Thundervolts at http://www.thunderracing.com for $69.95 plus freight. They said they use the Thundervolts with headers.
Thanks everyone for the advice. Looks as if in few days, the TPIS headers come out and the new B&B headers go in along with some new Taylor wires and NGK plugs. I'm looking forward to a nice clean ride, no more misfire or smell of exhaust from the header cracks. :)

If you havnt allready purchased the taylors. I recommend the Magnecors. Simply a superbly crafted wire. They do not use coatings on thier wire wrappings like others. Thiers are microscopically wound at 200 per inch. Taylors for example are 80 per inch, and like others use resistive enhanced coatings on the wire wrappings. These coatings break down sooner than later, and cause arching (EMI) and increased resistance. Also remember to NEVER beleive low resistance claims from manufactuers. That sort of metric is meaningless when you fire 40K volts down the wire and the electrons shell out into a magnetic field on the edge of the core, called skin effect. A volt/ohm meter can not test this reaction when measuring resistance, thus negating the test results. I have used Taylors, Magnecors, and many others. I have even dissasembled them, and again the magnecors are superior in build and EMI protection.

I have had the Taylor Spiro-pros and had had no noise or static with the radio as just an FYI... I think that they are a quality product IMHO... :yesnod:

Yep I did the same thing I had the Nology wires on my car when I purchased it. What a big waste of money. I put the stock ones back on and the car ran better :)
