Default Brakes

I have an 04 z06 roughly 51k miles. Doing a full brake swap and changing front shocks.

So far i have the pads and shocks.
Hawk hps pads and bilstein sport shocks.
I dont know which way to go with rotors and where to order SS brake lines with an fittings.

Any help? So far i have only seen DRM brake lines which state no banjo fittings.

Was trying to find some goodridge lines.

rotors, go cheap. they are disposable and changed each time you do the brakes anyway

amazon has the best shipped prices on ac delco durastop. same with raybestos

question though? why in the world are you making your suspension worse? those sport shocks are almost identical to the 02z compression and rebound curves. the 04 shocks are a lot more compliant and quicker on the street.

My front shocks are out. I did a lot of reading and a lot of people are happy with their sports bilsteins. 500+ for 04 z06 shocks is a bit pricey for me right now.

I also seen a lot of people talking about napa premiuim rotors. Which i may go that route.

Last thing is brake lines

I agree with race bum. Go cheap on the rotors and change them with your pads. TPS makes some nice SS brake lines, plus they are a sponsor of this forum.
why not go with new C6Z shocks???

I just installed the stainless lines from DRM last weekend as part of my brake work. They are goodridge...I really had to to tighten the flexible line to hard line side to have them seal up. The caliper side connection seemed like normal torque required for a seal. Here's a photo of how I oriented the rear cable to not brush against the wheel.

check amazon before you go to napa. delco rotors are around 30 each shipped

04z shocks are $460 a set from gm parts direct. could always see if your local dealer would price match

most people are happy with whatever mods they buy, doesn't mean they are the best bang for their buck.

really the big difference is rear end stability. with the bilsteins you'll be more likely to kick the rear out on uneven terrain

can you return them? your idea is a good one, 04z shocks are sold each and i could swear were like 120 each via rock auto. if you're going that way down the road why do the job twice

the GM long number and the ac delco number rock auto lists cross. i would just have to dig into it to find which shocks the 04z cross to in delco numbers. both the GM and delco numbers are on the boxes

Gene Culley at GM Parts House has the set of four 2012 Z06 shocks for $268.00. He also comments on the difference between the 2004 Z06 shocks and the C6 Z06 units

There's not much price difference between the two, and Gene has always been very helpful whenever I had questions about the parts I ordered. This post is the first time I've ever read a negative comment about GMPH or Gene Culley.

Our brake lines are made by Goodrich for us. We have never been fans of the banjo style fittings and run straight an fittings with a 90 degree fitting.

Just got the confirmation this morning. Returned the shocks.

So lets say ballpark # 300 shipped for 4 c6z06 shocks or
close to 500 shipped for 04z06 shocks...

big price difference. I know the 04 might be that much better. I bought my car last year with 26k miles. Car felt real nice. Will i notice that much of a decrease with c6z06 shocks?

shock dynos are pretty similar between the c6z shocks and the 04s

if i remember right the c6z shocks were slightly longer

i thought about the same thing and got the 04s for my z. for less than 200 bucks i just didn't want to chance not being happy. with the 5% discount code i bet you could land close to 450-470 on the 04 shocks via rock auto

Are the jacking pucks really necessary? Im either going to buy a low profile jack or find some ramps i can use. I have the same problem with my charger. I have to drive up on wood in order to get the jack under.

1 thing after another.
