Last August I posted up about my 04 driver window being non operable. Someone suggested I hold down the switch and slam the door and it worked. It has happened again, and holding the switch down and slamming doesn't seem to be working. I have my FSM, but use it in conjunction with real life experience.
Will other please share what they did with theirs, and what should I buy and who has the highest quality pieces at the most reasonable cost?
I just replaced both window motors and regulators. Ended up just getting them off of ebay. Instead of slamming the entire door. Take off the little cover behind the door pull and find the gold torx drive screw. tap that screw while holding the switch.
I would start by jumpering the motor to make sure it works or not. Next do a test on the switch to see if it works. Could be a LDCM relay. If the window is up or down then it could be one of the switch contacts or one of the relays. If the window was half way down it would tend to say a motor issue since you would need two bad relays and two bad switch contacts. Of course the module electronics could be bad affecting total function.
Diagnostics would also uncover any wiring or connector issue too.
I would really appreciate some help here. I tried tapping the screw and didn't work. I'm in my FSM and it is overwhelming. I can program L98's all day long, but I can't seem to figure this out.
If a year ago I slammed the door and the window worked, and now nothing, what is the most likely cause?
Okay, so I get the door panel off, and a youtube video tells me to hit it with a hammer, and now my window works again. I'm assuming this is a motor issue, so I'm going to put it back together and order a new assembly.
If your feeling thrifty you can take motor apart. I sanded down where the brushes ride on the shaft and cleaned everything good. Put it back together and have been problem free for almost a year. Used to bang on door panel and get it to work but I didn't like to hit my panels. There is a how to on the forum with pics.

Thanks Cutlass Master. I went to Amazon and found an AC Delco replacement for $135 shipped. If it happens again, i will replace it. We don't even have 30'000 miles on the car since it was new, so hopefully it'll last a while longer.
I hear ya, I had bought one too and then found out I needed an adapter cable/connector for the new motor/regulator. Then I had no choice but to fix my original cause I couldn't get the connector prior to a vacation. So with that said, make sure that if you need the connector that you get that on order too.
