I discovered this past weekend that my AC will not stay on. When I hit the AC button, the LED within the AC button lights up for about 3-5 seconds, then just goes back off. Anyone else had this experience? Any thoughts before I take it in for Service? Thanks in advance.
I'm having HVAC problems myself so I've been watching the forum closely the last few day for help and ideas myself, but I haven't run across anybody else having your problem Sorry.
I have had similar problems with my climate control. I had my blower control module replaced because my blower fan would just come on when ever it feeled like it. Also when I have my climate control completely off it will decide to come on with the AC running sometimes.
I am sure there is a control module for the AC. Maybe a dealership could run diags on the climate control. Also if you have a service manual look in there to get a better idea what your dealing with.
I think the early model C5's have many electrical problems, epically with the fuel sending units and climate control. Its unfortunate but I still love my 97 vette :jester
Robrobs, my 2001 did the same thing, it was because an O ring failed at the compressor/ac line junction, all the refrigerant leaked out. Dealer fixed it under warranty, it would have been $110 otherwise.
I also have had this problem. It turns out that one of the hoses has a break in it. The new hoses came in and they are getting me a rental car, as the hose replacement will take a little time. The hose goes behind the motor and between the firewall. They do not know how much they will have to remove to get to the other end of the hose.
