Default Engine height???

So Ive been researching a supercharger and the hood I want to go with etc. Just got off the phone with Magnusion and the info I got was that the entire engine with a TVS2300 on top is 10" (Pan to the highest point on the maggie)...
So what is the stock engine height? And how many inches is the maggie adding then???

Im trying to avoid a 3" cowel hood because I happen to think its looks ugly. There are some out there that are 1.5"-2" higher than stock and keep a nice sleek look while still being menacing.

Dragonrace engineering made a kit that I bought that fits under the stock hood. It uses a Whipple supercharger. Don't know if they have any left. They said it was not cost effective for them to manufacture anymore. I think Edelbrock beat them to market.

Caravaggio makes a nice hood that clears the Maggie, and is attractive, IMO. It's just a subtle blister shape, with no openings.

Thanks again for the info. Hopefully someone will know the measurement I'm looking for. I guess I can pick a hood based off its height once I know exactly how much higher the maggie makes it. Maybe Im best off just getting a traditional 3" cowel. Not what I want though...

Does that even sound right?? 10"? thats two inches off a ruler! Is the engine really only 10"from the pan to an even higher intake style supercharger? Having a hard time wrapping my head around that

I would have to question 10" myself. Perhaps you didn't get the correct location of the 10 inch number?????
Ya, i think the guy may have been confused on what he was reading to me. he was just a sales rep. I even questioned saying "from the pan to the top?" He said yes...

Thank you is yours a tvs2300? Im mostly concerned with the front where the hood tappers down. Not sure how to tell what will clear it. So knowing the stock height, and the height of the maggie will tell me exactly how much of a clearance is needed. If you can provide the maggie measurements, that will help out a lot.

Any suggestions on how to measure my own engine height? I asked about this in the FI section. Still no bites yet. Im sure someone out there knows what the stock height is. Just need him to happen upon this thread.

10 inches?! lol...more like 22-23 inches.
10 inches barely gets you to the bottom of the water pump pulley.

Hi mate
The 10" is the height of the tvs . Bottom front valley surface to the top
of blower.

Bit vague but hope these give you an idea lol. Do not worry about how close the rear cogs are ,their not the Maggie pulleys.

Wow, ya it is a big a$$ blower! That is an outstanding looking setup! Great work! I'll probably go with the 3" cowl from VIS in carbon fiber. I can get it new for $750. Im also thinking of having the stock hood chopped up. The car leaves the garage once or twice a month just for an evening of drag racing. A blower sticking out the hood would be really cool looking and the risk of trouble is low since its not a daily driver. I could also custom a clear cover and have a sort of ZR1 look to it too.. haha, Im like an excited child going over the possibilities.

Right now I am about to hack into my ACI highrise hood , kinda not looking good when I placed it in a rough position and those rear cogs are not coming off , so $hit or bust time lol.

Have the stocker hanging on the wall , would like to say I have not thought about a big hole in that hood.

If you do go TVS give me a pm , might be able to save you a few bucks on a kit.

Some forum members had just cut a hole in the hood and left the blower sticking out of the top. I dig that look.

Im thinking the same .. but I still want carbon fiber.. Maybe ill cut a hole in an OEM carbon fiber hood. That would look sweet.

It is not bad. It would look better if it stuck up higher and that extra slot to the side did not have to be there.

The other option is to attach a scoop like the old Trans Am, or even better, the C2 had.

The tvs2300 is a larger unit that would stick out more, plus Id be getting it in black which will go better with torch red and the rest of the accents on my car. I would cut the hole larger and equal all around. I dont like that little cut out part either. Like you said. There are many scoops out there that could be customed on if it looked terrible.

Couple more I found. Still the old smaller unit. But gives an idea.
