Lately I've noticed that my driver door power lock is not working when using my fob. I have reprogrammed the fob via the DIC and just put a battery in it yesterday and still no change.
When I use the key in the driver door it will unlock and when using the buttons inside on the doors it will lock/unlock. It just doesn't do anything with the remote. It does make a faint sound but that's about it.
You "should" have a second FOB. If so does it work?
Not at home now with all my info but for early year FOBs there were some issues with cold solder joints which can be fixed. Will follow up later when I get home.
GM farms out the manufacture of many components and awards the contract to the cheapest bidder. The module for the door locks fits into this category. I've re-soldered several modules that were made with cold solder joints. You have to look carefully, but reheating the "dull" solder pads until they melt and become shiny will usually fix the problem.
When I changed out the battery a few days ago I just did it in the quick fashion of simply popping it open, replacing battery, and putting the fob back together.
I just opened it back up and took it apart completely and found that it was very dirty inside. The battery contacts were dirty as well as the side of the board where the buttons press. I cleaned them up nicely and re-synced the remote to my car and tried it out and it seems to be working fine again.
I do appreciate the responses and will stay subscribed to this thread in case I have future problems and need to try to soldering fix (if that would eventually happen to my fob).
