Has anyone used the Dorman blend door actuator (part # 604-106) to replace the GM actuator in a 99 C5 with automatic climate control? I hate to do all this work to find out it doesn't work. Should I just go with the factory replacement from a dealer for a few dollars more.
I would stick with the GM. Made that mistake on a fuel pump for a Grand Prix my wife was driving, after the 3rd pump, put the GM one in and never had another issue.
You may be able to repair the orig one. The large plastic gear inside is known for splitting.
I repaired mine in one evening. There's a few threads on the subject.
I had replaced my driver’s side actuator three years ago with a Dorman and I have had no issues with it. Be careful with Flea bay stuff, like a box of chocolates; you never know what you’re going to get!

I'll use the Dorman and report back if I have problems with it. I plan to keep the old one and see if it can be repaired. I am aware of the broken gear issue. Thanks to all that replied.
