Question for dash gurus?
I bought an extra dash/cluster assy for my 98 vert from a fellow forum member.
Before I started tearing it apart and adding my extras I plugged it in to find the gas gauge and temp gauges don't work.
It powers up fine and shows the mileage but no gas/temp........the needles don't even try to initialize themselves like the others do.
Any ideas?
This supposedly came out of a 98 but how can I verify the proper year?
What is located in the metal box on the rear of the unit?
I'm waiting to hear from the forum member I bought this from and hopefully resolve but hoping to learn alittle in the mean time.

I'm assuming you are adding heads up...
A few things...what are you planning to do on the mileage since the DIC stores it...reprogramming is looking to be very expensive. . .
Anyway, the silver box is the power source. Sounds like you have a bad cluster. Does your old one still work?

I was thinking of a white face aluminum bezel combo.
Heads up is a thought.
I bought this dash from Brian Fowler whom I'm waiting to hear from, all of my deals with forum members have been straightup and I expect he'll stand behind this dash.
Is it possible that this dash is from a 97 and the two aren't compatible?
My 98 still works fine.
Brian said the mileage could be reprogrammed for $35.
I started looking into this defective dash and everything is PC surface mount which eliminates any of my tech friends from fixing.
Any ideas on who might be able to fix this unit?
