i have been looking all around and can't seem to find anything on this topic??????
why is this ? well i am about to tackle this very project after the back window was busted out and the glass shop wanting $600 and change for a new back window i decided f*** it and found a mostly complete back-half of a c5 for 1200 including the top all tub carpets trunk and toneau hinges etc...
There's a member here with a Vert Z06, so anything is possible...
Yeah, but I think installing a Z06's mechanical parts on a running 'vert, would be a LOT easier (and smarter) that cutting a running Z06 in half, and installing the rear tub from a 'vert on it, don't you think??
I think the "mostly complete" part description would cool my jets, but then my skill level and desire to work on cars is not in any way compatible with that kind of job. I would think the new top and structure would kill the budget. And the front header to attach the top, etc.
Best wishes on your decision. A coward like me would keep shopping for glass and once that issue was in the rear view, trade for a convertible.

get the glass repaired and trade it in on a vert! What your about to do is a huge undertaking with many potential problems. The end result would be spending a lot of time and money to kill the resale value of your car.

Who says you have to cut the car in half?
You don't.
It's still gonna be a lot of work. You are gonna have to separate the top body panels from the rear tub and make sure you properly bond the donor parts or you're gonna have leaks.
There was a post from a guy who converted his Z06 to a convertible. Same difference really.
If you had bought a salvage vehicle and had the time and knowledge to do the conversion, I'd say go for it. Being that all you need is a new rear hatch, I would find that instead and sell the car and buy a convertible.
