Ok a few weeks ago my car started leaving the door alarm chime on after I pull the key out of the ignition. The sound you get when you leave your head lights on and pull the key out. It only happens with the driver side door and if you put the key in and turn the power on it stops ringing. It all started after I install the SCV3 headlight kit, so I though it was a grounding issue with the relay in the kit. I added a larger ground to the relay and pulled the door apart and checked every wire connecter and ground that I could find. Every thing is perfectly clean and clear so I added some di-electric grease for good measure and put it all back together with no luck.
Is there a door jam switch or something else I am missing that could be causing this annoying ringing only in the driver side door?
Any advice or help with picture locations would be greatly appreciated before I go nuts!
Cool problem. I think I have a temporary or permanent solution for you.
The switch for the door ajar in in the door latch. When the door is open/ajar the switch closes and grounds the circuit to the BCM. The BCM should see if the key is in or out and only chime when the key is left in and the door is open and the switch is closed.
I think your problem is with the BCM. However you might try removing one of the wires to the door latch and maybe "fool" the BCM into thinking the door is closed.
This should work since the chime does not happen with the key out until you open the door if I understand the issue.
The 2 wires for the door ajar switch are Gray/Black and Black. If it were me I would try removing the pin on the Gray/Black wire in the A-pillar connector C201. This is a 6 pin connector. There are 2 black wires so that is why I suggest pulling the Gray/Black pin. The other wire colors are 2 Orange, and 1 Brown.
If you don't know how to remove a connector pin, just watch the LMC5 video on any of their eBay ads.
If you need to discuss this then you are welcome to PM me with your phone number and I can walk you through the whole process and try to answer any questions.
Also in rethinking this if it were me I would remove the pin at the BCM instead of in the A-pillar. Think about which way you might want to go if you like my idea. I can give you the info for doing it at the BCM.
My car just started to do this also ? I'm wondering if the "fool the BCM " trick worked or could there be another culprit , or maybe another fix ? Its mostly just annoying , but like a lot of folks here just want everything to be perfect.
Well I couldn't find any lose ground wires anywhere so, I just unpluged the door jam switch in the door and it finally stopped dinging. If I can find another switch i'll replace it but it's not a high priority since the only thing it effected was the dome lights dont come on now. But just hit the unlock button and instant dome light. Deffinatly better then the ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding....you get the picture.
