Yes. I have one myself. I prefer the shifter throw and feel. It is a direct bolt in swap. There are a bunch of threads on this.
Best shifter replacement for a C5 IMHO. I tried a multitude of aftermarket "short-throw" shifters and I found them all to be notchy, hard to shift and outright a pain in the a$$ to live with for normal street use. I finally settled on a C6 shifter kit from GM Partshouse. Direct bolt in and I now have precise, smooth and easy shifts. The C6 shift **** looks great in a C5 interior.
I put the C6 shifter in my C5 (thanks to CPAXSON for providing the new C6 shifter). Much better shift feel. I wanted to maintain the C5 stock look so I machined the top of the C6 Shifter to accept a stock 'demon' key and C5 **** that was slightly drilled out and used the stock boot which covered the slight bend in the C6 shifter. It would take a very critical eye to notice the slightly shorter shifter but otherwise looks stock C5.
I have one I bought for 50.00 used. Friggin ***** though are like 60-100.00. I actually tuned up my C5 shifter. Seriously the Zip urethane mounts work very well. Gives you a more positive feel. Also put a Hurst **** on it. I like the having a positive feel less soft with the Rubber mounts and Soft leather ****. Also find I feel I am in first where before it was numb and being newbie to it, it would pop out of first on me. Also the good thing about the **** is that you screw all the way down virtually shortening it as well. Still want to eventually try the C6. Does it have a shorter throw? Same feel?
Get yourself a Z06 shifter from TPSmotorsports.com. Great price and it comes with the shifter box too, at a great price including free shipping. It will also be modified to retain your C5 shift ****.

Do you really see a marked difference? What mostly?
I recently converted from the C5 shock shifter to the GM C6 upgrade for my 2002 Convertible. Now I would like to upgrade my shift ****. However, I want a wider range of shift ***** to choose from and not have to buy adapters. I'd like to thread the shifter with a 9/16"-18 dye (I can get one for about $10), then I can just use a new threaded **** and a lock nut. This gives me a much greater selection of *****. I'd attach the boot with a steel wire as some have suggested. Has anyone tried threading their shifter? Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated?

I wanted to install the stock C5 **** on my C6 shifter. I considered threading the C6 shifter shaft, but the kink in the shaft that the C6 unit has makes it a little more difficult to thread. Also, the C6 shifter shaft was slightly larger in diameter than my C5 unit, making it difficult to use a 9/16-18 dye. I took the unit to my machine shop and they would not do it because the top of the shaft would need to be machined down a bit to take/start the dye, and that would be difficult to chuck up in a lathe again because of the kink. They also indicated that the shaft was 'hardened' steel.
So I took it back to my shop and clamped it into the mill / drill and was able to machine out a demon key slot in this 'hardened' shaft (didn't seen to be so hard to me). Then I drilled out the C5 stock **** to be a press fit on the C6 shaft which took out most of the threads in the ****. Pressed the **** onto the shaft, inserted the demon key, and that **** is on TIGHT. Used the stock boot which covers the kink and makes the whole thing look stock. Seems to me you could do the same thing with any **** made for the C5 shifter.
I have the C6 shifter in my C5Z and I love it. I also did the anti-venom mod. I just changed the upper half. The C6 bottom half/box is the same as the C5. As long as yours is in good shape there is no benefit to replacing it.
I have one more used C6 shifter (upper half only). If you are interested send me a PM.

So what if I drill out that **** to 5/8" then taping it to 18 tread and after cutting shifter offset so it's straight across I could tread it to 5/8 with a dye at 18 also. Why wouldn't that work as long as I can get the metal to the right size and thread, correct?
