Default Need factory Stereo Options Explained for a '99

My newly acquired used car is in the shop for trans so I thought i'd do some audio research while waiting for it.

The aftermarket Alpine bluetooth unit the car came with was causing wiring problems for the rest of the car and has been removed. I plan to replace it with a stock unit

My factory option code is U1S translates to ...Multiple CD player

I also see on my cars list of different factory codes..UL0 which translates to..AM/FM Stereo Cassette w/Auto Reverse and Search

when deciphering the whole list of available factory option codes I also see: UN0 ..AM/FM/CD Stereo ..This basic unit is what I think I want.

All I have now is a hole in my dash, I haven't looked to see if I have a multiple CD stacker somewhere in the car. Doesn't look like the original speakers have been changed.

I like the idea of a simple unit, so UN0 sounds like the way to go. I do have old cassettes I'd like to play, but I don't trust car cassette players in general. My cassettes are vintage recordings of my Bands and I can't afford to risk damage to them.

Any input is appreciated..Thanks

Multi stacker should be in the trunk, unless it was removed.

PM me with your phone number and I will explain everything for you including options.

Have you tried looking at your owners manual for where a factory CD changer is located? If you don't have one you can find Pdf versions on the internet for free. Don't have the link now since I am not home.

Those multi disc players in the trunk are notorious for eating CD's.

I just want an in-dash unit..am/fm stereo plus one CD is fine, I haven't looked in the back of my Coupe yet. I guess the CD stack thing must be back there somewhere..? I really don't play CD's anyway. I'm a musician..I get enough music at work..

I have a full factory Bose system from a 2003 Corvette with AM/FM single CD player for the dash and a factory Pioneer CD stacker changer for the trunk. You interested in a purchase from me? Have all 6 speakers but may want to keep them unless you are interested in them also.

You would have to research how to unlock the head unit if required to put in another vette. Let me know...

Thanks anyway I got a killer deal on a unit from Marc at Vettenutz. I got the cassette version as that is what my car had originally. I got the 12 CD changer in my back well. Don't understand how it can "eat" CD's ??

I had an old stacker years ago in another car. It basically would not eject the CD magazine back out to get CDs out or reload new CDs. I sold the car and the buyer took the CD changer cover off and got the magazine to eject.

Thx for the reply..

Don't worry, the unit will show you. I think more of these units don't work versus those that do.
