To those who have done the swap, how many of you have installed a trans cooler vs just looping the line? I rarely autorcoss or hit the drag strip, so I'm questioning if it's worth the effort.

One other thing, this trans(from a base z51) has an extra plug at the bottom, I'm just wondering what it's for. Trans temp?

The stock Z51/Z06 have fluid pre-heater and NOT a cooler. The fluid is pumped to the radiator side tank and preheats the fluid so the transmission can come up to temperature quicker.

To really have a cooler, you'll need to run a HX.

Unless you're running road courses, the HX isn't really necessary. We either loop the line around or don't use any pump at all for easier/cleaner install except for road track cars.

That lower plug is for Trans temp sensor.

Oh really I was almost 99% sure the lines I took off the car went to a 4x8 cooler in front of the radiator.

What do you mean by HX?

And thank you

If you have a cooler in front of the radiator, it's not stock.

HX = heat exchanger.
