Hi,
when I bought my 99 vette it had this air intake setup on it. My guess it is from a c6.
Well I want to put the c5 vararam on it but I am not sure what to do with the maf. It looks like it has a newer style maf on it that will not work with the c5 style intakes. Also looks like a temp sensor in there.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as to whether there is an adapter to run this style maf with a c5 intake or if I should just go with a c5 style maf.
That looks like an ls3 intake setup. The PCM should have been tuned for that MAF. I'm not sure the gains from the switch to a vararam would be cost effective. If you have to get a new MAF, the vararam and a tune, you could be $800.00- $1000.00 for the switch.
Hopefully a tuning guru will post something more helpful.
that is defiantly C6 OEM air box and Card maf.. Honestly you wont gain much if any by swapping it out for another.. the LS7 guys are running stock air box with a blue filter well over what you will need it to flow.. I agree, you will need to re-tune the car if you swap it out for a C5 MAF... might consider keeping it in there unless it doesn't really fit or work well... or find a stock C6 Z06/GS air box without the resonator on the side.
