Ok I put on a set of the BPP (made by Proshocks) coilovers on my car. It took me FOREVER The rear were the worst because they kept hitting the tie rods. The spring kept on touching it, so I had to adjust it, over and over again. It basically took me about 10+ hours for fronts and rears.
Learned a few things though. Like if you are taking off the front lower control arms and need to put them back you need to take off the sway bar to do it. Once that mono spring is gone the sway bar twists it around.
Overall the front went on fine, it was just the rears.
Anybody else with these coilovers coming in contact with the tie rods on the rear ???? I was able to just barely adjust thm from hitting, but it is very very close and a slight adjustment up and it hits. I now have to raise the car back up a lil in the rear b/c it is too low, but several points will be void because it will hit the rods...hmmmmm
Do not know about the ride yet. I left the front sway bar off, needs to get aligned and the rear has the tire tucked under the fender :D :D
Did feel more in control when hammering it, hooked better. I hit the innerfenderwell several dozen times   so I stopped driving the car until I get some time to raise the rear about an inch or lil more.
Still wondering why the rear comes in contact with the tie rods. Should have been obvious when tested.... not very many people seem to have these coilovers. They are the same as the WCC ones.
Do the shock mounts have enough reinforcement to take the load of the coil spring? Just wondering if we could have bigger problems down the road after swapping to coil overs.
Definately sound sexy and should provide better ride and handling.
It sounds strange that they will hit the tie rods. I've used Bilstein coilovers with Hyperco springs from DRM earlier and now Ohlins with Hyperco springs, non of them hit the tie rods. If I remember correctly I have about 1/4 inch of space.

I guess I will find out. :D I have heard that they do by people who run them. We shall see.
Saw your car getting worked on while I was putting on the coils :D

Yeah I know what you mean. These are what BPP and WCC sells. The spring seems about 1/4" to wide at times. If I adjust it to where th espring is parallel with the tie rod it will hit. Maybe I should call BPP...hmmm maybe get Hyperco springs from VBP.
Kinda thinking of doing heads and cam on the car while its there. Have the
Vettewrench guys work w/ Ed curtis and produce my tight 109 LSA super mid range TQ cam I've been dreaming about
LGM Long tubes look NICE, but wish the price was 500 lower.
Be nice to get back a different car.
Right now we are focused on getting it working well again and all the nitpicks cleaned up.
Will see how the ducks fall and what my priorities end up being.
I had these installed at BPP a few weeks ago. The install was done in two sessions "to let the car settle" after the initial install. After the first session, I heard a loud smack when riding over a few rough edges in the road-- it sounded like the rear end was getting smacked by an anvil. After fine tuning during the second session I haven't anything while driving.
Two weeks ago the car was on a lift & I noticed that the spring had definitely been hitting the rods (both were scraped). I'm not sure whether this was more recent or from the initial install. The distance between them seemed short, but they didn't look like they would be hittting. I'll be looking into this further when I get back to Miami (where my car is). I'm thinking of applying a bit of paint to see if it gets scraped off.
At the same time, I also switched to Ronals w/ 18's all around (18 x 9 & 18 x 11) and Pilot Sports (from Z 06's with Run Flats) & added a Hotchkiss kit. The overall effect of the wheel/tire/coilover/Hotchkiss swap is: quiter ride, more supple over bumps, improved grip & more neutral handling the the few off ramps I was able to push it a bit on in Florida (no curves in S Florida).

sounds like you have the same problem as I. I am very surprised that BPP let you out the door with that setup. When I saw the coils in there, there was no dobut that they were going to hit at some adjustment points. I ahve mine set right now so it won't hit, but the car is SLAMMED and I mean in the weeds and all that junk. The rear crossmember sits 2" above the ground and the rear tires have about 1 1/2" of clearance under the inner fender well. In need to play that "low rider" song when I drive. I will be adjusting them higher next week. If I cannot adjust them to the correct height without the springs hitting the tie rods I am going to take a billion pics and bitch BIG TIME on this forum :D  :mad :mad :mad :cuss
The fact that you hit th erods after getting them installed BY BPP makes me very nervous.
Well I just talked to BPP about the spring hitting the tie rods. It seems they have had only about 5% of the cars do this, which I guess is not that bad. I was told that I could shave a lil off the tie rods for it to clear, which I think I may do depending on how much that shave needs to be :D . I guess I could probably do a tiny bit on the rod and a tiny bit on the springs...hmmmm . It is only on the rear and it only happens at certain points.
I will probably try this out next week. The fronts were no problem and seem to work well.
I will take some pics of things and post them for those that are interested in doing this.
damn my dremel is getting a workout....
Sounds like the coil-overs are more work than what they're worth? They've had coil springs since what year? It's like going back in time. We can order special O.D. coil springs from Hyperco if you like. Can you go to a smaller O.D. spring to get more clearance for the toe rods? We can actually make the car ride and handle better on composites.

How true :D
I was and still am thinking about calling you guys for a set of the Hyperco springs. From what BPP told me they are using the largest spring. I will try and call them to get the OD of the spring on Monday and then go from there. BPP told me that if I went to a smaller OD spring it would not be as strong, however, this I do not know about and somehow doubt. But I will get the OD size and give you guys and call and see what you think :yesnod:
Glad you guys became a supporting vendor, been ordering stuff from you guys for awhile.
