hot no-start
Twice, now, I've been stuck with a no start after hot running... first time, I push/jump started it, (LS1 stock), this last time I bopped the starter with a long hollow rod... like a broom handle. It then started. My question is, will heat wrap cure this?? the car has s.s. headers and they're about 3/8" from the starter, which is new...It was 85 today, but hadn't run the car too hard. Just hot! BTW, I did a search and general concensus is; these starters don't really suffer from the heat... thanks.

no starter... plenty of battery, just no click, no spin. replaced original starter thinking the solenoid was shot... worked great for a month... thinking maybe heat-soak?? thanks...(after a cool down period, the starter functions ok...)
OK, you have the "classic" issue with increased resistance due to heat. Did you put in a remanufactured starter and not new?
If you did, more than likely it was not rewound but just had a new solenoid and brushes installed, etc..
If you have a new starter you should not be having this issue with temps at only 85F. Plenty of people run headers with no short term issues. Long term yes, and thermal wrap can help.
I had that issue and replaced starter, fixed issue.
Recently when in 90s, after driving awhile, it did not start on first try, although it tried, turned key again, and it started. I have headers, so I added a heat shield, but I guess can still get heat soaked.

The starter is a new one. Bosch with the larger mounting end... maybe I should contact Bosch and see if they've had issues... (like they'd tell me...) Hope to not have to replace again as it's a b----- job!
