Unfortunately, the real truth may be relative (depends on how you drive) when you talk about this problem and our cars :rolleyes: ...here is a link to a Forum partner site with quotes from GM on what was done to fix the problem in the '02...

i went from a car consuming 1 1/2 quarts every thousand following the correct break in presented to me during my museum delivery on 2001 vert. i got pissed off and tired of dealing with so i bought a 2002 Z. the result at 2300 miles i am only mm's below the full mark. and that happened during a 2 day autocross. before that i went drag racing twice, and a one day autocross. however, no oil was consumed during that period.

Only a very small percentage of cars burned oil, and the problem was not limited to Z06's. The problem potientially exist with all LS1 - LS6 powered cars.
Just break the car in with conventional oil and it will not be an issue.

Thank you for your comment. I am on my way to trade my 01 vert for 02 Z06. I got fed up with the oil issue myself. Can't wait to feel that extra power! :D
