Dead c5 with a p0161 code

I have never in my life seen an 02 sensor kill a car but it did mine. Car would start but die if I released the clutch. Replaced it and it ran great on the way home. Any of you guys had that problem before?

It wasn't the column lock because I could drive it for a minute and steer. Also it would die if I revved it holding clutch in. Funny thing is the ses light never came on. My scanner picked the code up.

The factory fix(es) can still cause this issue. Column won't lock but the 2mph cutoff still engages. Since you we're not moving I would suspect a short of some kind with the sensor, the revving up must have moved things enough to cause the short.
