02 vette steering sensor

Hey guys i found a corvette i was thinking about buying and he said it needs the steering position sensor replaced. I was wondering is that something that would need to be replaced ASAP? Because it's about a 6hour drive to go pick it up and i planned on driving it home the way it is. If it don't need to be replaced ASAP.

Without it you have no stability control. You can still drive the car, but lose this safety feature.

So if i don't replace it right away and dont get too crazy driving around it won't hurt anything then

It'll cause the cruise control to randomly disengage and the "service active handling" message to pop up on your DIC. It's about a $300.00 fix if you have someone do it.

But it wouldnt need immediate replacing if i were just driving it around town than would it?
