Is it really necessary to remove the dash to replace the right blend door actuator ? My out door air sensor went south, reading 33 when it was 87. Replaced that and did the reset with fuse 27 in the footwell. Now I can't get rid of the codes for the right side. Every thing was working good till the sensor took a crap. Went by the book trying to reset the system. Can't believe how much trouble these damed cars are, bout had it with the Vettes. Just don't see how changing the sensor caused this problem.
Are you sure you left the fuse out of at LEAST 1 minute for the reset to work. Some people had to so it several times for it to work.
If the reset does not do it you may have to pull the actuator. Most people seem to be able to pull the passenger side out without too much trouble. Always working under the dash is a PITA. The older you get the worse it is.
Doing the driver side would be very hard unless you pulled the dash pad.
I have the guidance for pulling the dash pad that even novices said was not that hard. I have that at home if you want it.

I will pull the seat to give me more room if it can be pulled with out pulling the dash pad. The drivers side works great but so did the right side before I did the first reset. I found an post on line that says to pull fuse 18 and 27, haven't tried the 18 yet may try that before trying to get to the actuator. Pulling the dash will be the last thing I do. Thanks for the offer, I may pm you for the file, Thanks.
Have the dash out, have actuator out don't see nothing wrong with the gears. Don't think the actuator can be replaced with out removing the dash. Oh well one more learning experience. Thank goodness for those have done it before.
My passenger actuator drive wheel was cracked radially from the metal shaft out towards the teeth. The teeth were fine but I believe the crack would open up near the end of travel and not fully close the heater door. Driver side had a small crack but no symptoms. Replaced both and all is well. Better man than I could do the passenger side with the dash in...I don't see that happening! Driver side is doable with dash in place. Good luck!!!
I used a dorman actuator, $139.00, didn't want to wait for the one off Ebay. Everything working good again, dash pad back in place, finish it up tomorrow and taker for a drive top down. Beautiful weather here in central IL. this week. Thought about replacing them both but the other one might out last me. If it does go bad, I know how to do it now.
