I agree with the above statements. Some people use dielectric grease in the reassembly which is fine to help prevent moisture intrusion.
However, this grease is an INSULATOR so do not put it in the actual current path. Put is around the current path and you will be fine.
You can use a good electrical contact cleaner also. Easy to get in spray cans.
