Default Serice Active Handling help

My DIC keeps showing service active handling. I know this is a somewhat common problem, but am not sure if it's the BCM or simply a sensor or something else. It comes on just about any time I drive it now. Recently started about a month ago and has progressively become more frequent. It'll reset after the ignition is off but it'll then later come on again at a random time. I cleared all codes and the following popped up after it came on:
U1064-Lose of Communications with DCM
P0102-Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Circuit Low Frequency -A (doubt this is related as car is on SD tune)
C1288-?

Any ideas where to start?

Try search, MANY, MANY posts on this. You'll need to pull your codes from the DIC first.

When my 04 coupe started doing that, I need to replace the steering sensor. Once I did that the problem disappeared.

Yep the code C1288 is for the SWPS. If you have a 01 to 04 you can still get them new. For the earlier ones you can not.

Its an 01 Z06. I'll try swapping out the SWPS first. Thanks.

Got mine for my 04 from Gene at www.gmpartshouse.com. Costs about $65 and took about 2.5 to 3 hours to replace. Just be careful with the airbag. There is a good write up on this forum on how to do it.
