I have a 98 LS1 vette and am looking to buy a set of Kooks headers from a guy. He told me that these headers were on an 03. He said they will mount up and work but that I will need an air tube from a 2001+ vette or cap the egr bung on the headers.
I live in Atlanta and have to get emissions inspections. When I look up the price of an air tube they are all over $100. Does this all sound accurate? After installing the headers I'm going to get it tuned. Could I just cap off the egr bung and get the emissions stuff tuned out? Or am I better off looking for an air tube?
I've never had aftermarket headers so this is all new to me. I appreciate the help.
What does the emissions test involve? If they visually inspect then I'd hook it up, even if you get it tuned out. The capped AIR ports on both headers might raise questions. If they do an OBDII or tailpipe test then you could cap them and remove the AIR system.
