I’m getting very close to ordering some TPIS ceramic coated headers.
I want to get these on before my SC arrives.
I remember seeing a few posts about leaks around the slip fit flange. Anyone have any good or bad experiences to share that will help me make my decision. What is the correct technique to prevent leaks? Not thrilled with the design, but the price seems right at about $850.
The TPIS headers had problems with the air tubes cracking with the earlier design (about 1.5 years ago). I have not heard of any problems since the change. we have sold and installed many TPIS headers and the minor leaking at the slip joint, seals itself after carbon build up has had a chance to form. we usually use hi temp sealant there and that does the trick. for the money, they are a good buy.
I had them on my '99 and was very pleased with them. No problems whatsoever. The only complaint was when it was time to trade the car in. I couldn't find a spare H-pipe and wasn't able to take the headers off.
I have the TPIS Ceramic Headers and I have to tell you that I have torture tested these things in the High heat for 2 days without a failure. They work well and make the car sound great!! :)
