just got my first C5 a magnetic red, convt tan top and interior, chrome wheels, auto what should be my first performance mods? I have had nothing but C4s before this. Advise please.
Filter next for me, just got a new C5 as well. I just got mine back after having the new Borla Stinger installed. I had the Borla system on a 98 SS, but I've got to tell you the Stinger on the C5 is awesome. Do that as you second mod. :yesnod:
I would start with a Blackwing intake and some longtube headers. I would then put on a cat-back exhaust and x-pipe if you want a better sound. I think the A4 guys also need to start out by getting the tq mgt stuff adjusted out of the PCM.
From there you can go the heads/cam/nitrous route or the FI (sc/turbo) route, or a combination of all if you are really sick.
Best bang for the buck will always be nitrous, but it has an entire set of issues that come along with it and it is not ideal for the avg c5 owner. Cam is probably next in line for cheap power, but you will most likely loose some daily drivability with that (rough stinky idle…).
If you have unlimited $s to spend, just skip the amateur stuff and drop your car off with LPE for a TT package. These are the sweetest c5s on the road, IMHO. Look on their site for ideas on where you should take your car.
Congrats on the new ride! You are in for some fun!
I like the Vortex Ram Air from Breathless, I think it's worth a few more HP, but it is a little harder to put on. Probably a set of Borla Stingers next and then you need to go see Ed Wright in Tulsa, OK for a reprogram of the PCM! Best mod I've done by a mile! He will reset your fan turn on temps, adjust your timing and fuel curves all for maximum HP! Money well spent. :yesnod:
