I have a stock 2003 convertible and I noticed it seems to be running on the warm side. See what you guys think. While cruising down the road at speed it runs 215 to 220 degrees. When stopped in traffic I can watch the temp climb fairly rapidly to 230. This seems a bit warm to me. I'm thinking of replacing the thermostat first. I have not had a chance to pop the hood and see if the fan is running yet. I cleaned all the crap out of the radiator last year. Man it scoops up a lot of stuff. I got a lot of dried grass, cigarette buts and even an empty pack of cigarettes off of it. Any suggestions on the hot running issue?
Thanks for the reply. I had the coolant changed when I bought the car in 2010. I'll do that again. The car only has 70K on it. When I cleaned it out last year the condensor for the A/C was almost entirely clogged. I used a leather sewing needle with a blunt point to pick out a ton of crap. I could not get areally good access to the radiator. Is there an easier way to do this?
Thanks for the tip. I saw another post on the radiator genie yesterday and looked at their site and ordered one off e-bay. It was a lot cheaper than getting it from the manufacturer. I'm glad to hear other people are using this. My biggest problem seemed to be all the small rocks/large grains of sand that were embedded in the condensor. They were wedged in place pretty good and I had to dig them out very carefully. I sure hope this works better.
