I have a non memory drivers rear view mirror motor that has the center rotation cup broken. I just purchased a used mirror for the motor but it is a memory type. First can I use this mirror motor with out the memory portion or at least use the motor half that has the cup on it with my non memory motor ( taking the two to make one)?
I may not fully understand what you are saying. I am not aware of the ACTUAL mirror and black surround to be different between Memory and non Memory.
The only difference I am aware of between Memory mirror units and non Memory units are the position sensors in the motor portion. The wiring for a Memory unit has an additional 4 wire connector coming from the mirror motor assembly to plug into the LDCM.
You should be able to use a Memory unit mirror or motor assembly with no problem into a non Memory car.
The part that I was hoping to steal from the memory motor is the actual piece that the mirror attaches to. But if that will not work then my plan was to install the memory motor and mirror but not connect the wires that are used for the position feed back. Also on the memory mirror there are two additional wires that connect to the mirror where the heater wires connect. Are these for auto dimming or what?
All went well. In the end I swaped out the motor cases although slightly different worked but I had to take the drives form the case I used as the other ones were too small. Cheap $20 fix. Thanks for the info.
