Default Best Brake upgrade?

What would be the best break upgrade for a C5? I do mostly street driving with long road trips and a little 1/4 mile fun on my vacations. Looking for cross drilled and slotted with good pads that don't have breakdust.

Since it's mostly a driver and the stock brakes are pretty good, you don't really need an upgrade, but I can understand the look. You will loose a little braking force with ceramic pads, but I think they are the best choice for you since they don't dust much. Slotted rotors have been proven better than crossdrilled. Drilled is just for looks. But they work fine for street driving. And they do look sharp. I have some too. Been ruining cheap Power-slot drilled/slotted rotors with the stock pads for a couple years. Car stops fine.

For an upgraded pad take look at the Carbotech 1521, this is a low dust performance street brake pad.

Carbotech™ Bobcat 1521™ The Carbotech Bobcat 1521™ is our high performance street compound that is our most successful compound. The Bobcat compound is known for its awesome release and modulation, along with unmatched rotor friendliness. Like our AX™ & XP™ line of compounds, Bobcat 1521™ is a Ceramic based friction material offering minimal rotor damage and non-corrosive dust. Bobcat 1521™ offers outstanding performance, even when cold, low dusting and low noise with an excellent initial bite. This compound’s virtually perfect linear torque production provides incredible braking force without ABS intervention. Bobcat 1521™ operating range starts out at ambient and goes up to 900°F. Bobcat 1521™ is suitable for ALL street cars, perfect for your tow vehicle, police cruiser. The Bobcat 1521™ compound has been found to last two-three times longer than OE pads you can purchase at a dealership or national retailer. That’s one of the beauties of Carbotech Ceramic brake compounds. Bobcat 1521™ is NOT recommended for any track use.

I went with drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads from http://stores.ebay.com/Brakemotive.Fast service better than stock, not a supporting vendor but I didn't have $700.00 extra dollars for good brakes.Just my 2 cents

better pads

lots of choices. long story short, the more they dust the better they stop

why exactly are you looking for an upgrade anyway? what is it you want to gain? that question really will steer the replies

I hated GM Delco ceramic brake pads, no dust and no stopping. I love Hawk HPS pads, they stop great and dust less than stock pads.

I have slotted and drilled, cryogenic treated, zinc plated rotors. Company is now out of business. Be sure to get zinc plated.

For the street your best upgrade will be with a better set of brake pads. Heck, a lot of track guys run stock rotors with race pads. If you want to improve the looks of your brakes then that's a different story. Hawk HP+ are an aggressive pad that you can run on the street. I personally like the Baer 2 piece rotors.
