I have a 99 6sp with 170k . Clutch is one year old. It currently goes into 1 and 3rd about half the time, the rest it just grinds. I have a remote clutch bleeder, fluid was clean and still did two containers of dot 3. This didnt fix problem. I'm guessing I need a new trans (rebuild) ? I have a shell, not sure which rebuild kit to purchase. Here are two I'm looking at. Thanks for any replys.
does it go into the other gears when the motor is off? What does it do for 2-4-5-6-r. does it grind when you are moving the shifter into gear or grind when you let the clutch out?
No problem going into gears with car off. It grinds on 1,3 (maybe5) and R. It grinds when I start to let the clutch out. You can barely feel that it didnt go all the way in. After my most recent drive the bad gears are grinding less than half the time.
Thanks

If it only grinds on the up or down gears its very possible it could be that the shifter box sint alligned correctly. if its 1-3-5-r the box may need to go down(back) a hair more. Easy enough to check takes 15-20 mins to get to. It is also possible it was putzed with in the clutch install so may have loosened up or something.
The grind when letting the clutch out means it isnt enguaged. if it did it on like 1-2 or 3-4 i woudl think fork pads possibly. but seen as its all the gears enguaged with the shifter up, its very likely the shifter box just improperly located.

Well that makes sense. I got a new clutch a few years ago. Seems weird it would start to have problems at this point. I REALLY hope you are right ! I will look at it this weekend. Thanks !
