Default Z06 Sway Bars ?

How much stiffer are they than Z51 bars ? how do they compare to Hotchkis bars ? Is the rear Z06 bar the same a s a rear Z51 bar ? Is the front Z06 bar as near as stiff as the Hotchkiss ?

Best tihing to do is find members in your area who have already done this Mod and go for a ride. :yesnod: Not many people have had all three Sway bars on a car to give you info like that. I have had the T-1, F45 & Z51's already. Looking for the next Sway bar/ spring combo Mod now :blueangel:

The front Z06 is slightly stiffer than Z51 bar. The rear Z06/Z51 bars are the same. I think the Z06 uses stiffer mounting bushings but not sure about that. The Hotchkis bars are stiffer than Z06. I went from base to Z06 bars on mine and it flattened the car considerably around corners with only a minor effect on the ride. Switching to Bilstein shocks affected the ride much more than the bars.

The front zo6 bar is .055" larger than a 00' or newer z51 front bar. The zo6 front bar is smaller than a hotchkiss, but don't know the number. The rear zo6 bar is the same as the rear 00' or newer z51 bar. The zo6 sway bar endlinks are cast aluminum. All the z51's had steel front endlinks, but nylon rear endlinks.

More important, the rear spring on a zo6 is 10% stiffer than the z51 rear spring. The fronts are the same rates.

The standard FE1 suspension has 23.1mm front and 19.1 mm rear sway bars. The swaybar dimensions of the 97 – 99 Z51 suspension are 25.4 mm diameter in front, 21.7 mm rear. Plastic end links were used all around. For 2000 2001, they were changed to 28.6 mm front, 23.6 rear and steel end links in front only. In 2002, aluminum links were used in all four corners. The Z06 (FE4) uses a hollow 30mm front and the same 23.6 rear with aluminum links all around. I believe the T1 has 38mm/27mm with adjustable links. Check the link for Hotchkis. Shock and springs get progressively stiffer as you go from FE1 (stock) to Z51 to FE4. Probably more than you want to know but I hope this helps. – C.

I installed the Z06 sway bars on my F45 (base suspension) 99 and it feels so much better. Are they the same as the Z51's I think so. Can't say if the Hotchkis bars are stiffer still, just a guess but probably. I'd say either set of bars on a base suspension would be a fantastic starting place. Of course there is the matter of cost, Z06 bars are about half the cost of the Hotchkis bars.
