I ordered a ecklers ground effect kit the LT1front mini spoiler part #39734 and the ground effect kit part #38087 my question is the factory air dam (front spoiler) would not go back on with the new ecklers front ground effect spoiler my question is would this effect the running temperature of the C5 corvette and what purpose do the factory air dam really play in the operation and running of the vette I guess what I am asking is it safe to run the vette without the factory air dam or should I find some way to put it back on thanks dirtyredsr@yahoo.com
My understanding of the air dams on the Corvette and other cars and trucks is to cause a pressure differential behind the dam. The dam causes a low pressure area behind it while moving and allows the hot engine and radiator air to more easily escape the engine bay.
Meh, I've been running without the front air dam for 3 years, temps rarely go above 200* except when sitting in traffic.

Same here, but the OP is running his car in Texas heat so his results
my not be the same. New Jersey and Virginia get hot in the Summer,
but not like Dallas.

Mine was fine without the air dam with highway driving. But if you get into stop and go traffic, the temp went up fast. And once it went up, never went back down even cruising at 70.
Cools much better with it on. Stays around 196 - 198 instead of 220 and climbing, and driving around with the heater on full blast in the summer trying to lower the temp.
