Default Time to buy headers!

Well,

I have decided I want to buy a set of headers for my 98 A4. I am not sure which to go with. LG are too expensive for me. So I am looking at:
1)TTS
2)TPIS
3)SLP
4)RK Sport

I am probably going to buy SLP's new H-Pipe w/ resonator since I have the loud mouth exhaust already. They say it reduces resonance, we shall see!

I have debated on the SLP headers, but they are so new I am worried they may have problems or are not the optimal choice.

So if anyone has info the SLP headers that are just coming out I'd love to know more.

Anyway - any advice on what to buy or not buy I'm listening! I plan on making my purchase next week.

I had good power numbers with my TPIS headers, RK Sports are identical to TPIS except they have flanges. I have found the flanges to be very nice because you can do a bolt in X Pipe in place of the cats (for off road use of course) and then bolt back in the cats afterwords. The alternative is slip fits and welding. TPIS/RK's are 1 3/4" primaries, the real difference is in the collector when compared to LGMotorsports, I just got in on the Stainless GP, MattG may still be able to get you a deal. Talk to him.

Just a suggestion... You should consider FLP's...

I see by your signature that you have a 98 A4 just like I do, and you haven't got a hi stall converter and 3.42 gears yet. You will get a MUCH bigger bang for the buck if you install 3.42s and a good hi stall converter instead of just headers. Some guys have picked up as little as just 5 RWHP with headers on a stock engine. The gears and converter will feel like you gained 50+ RWHP especially if you currently have 2.73s. Headers will give you a much bigger performance increase if you decide to do cam and heads later on.

98 A4
Donaldson Blackwing
Powerloaded
Pro Torque 2400
3.42 gears

Waiting to be installed
Pro Torque 2900
Cartek Stage 2 Heads and Cam
TPIS headers
underdrive pulley
LS6 intake

Yes, gears/converter 1st, headers after that.

And why not FLPs? They seem to be most popular now.

FLPs are by far the best header for the money in our opinion. we have sold and installed almost every header available...

About FLP,

I am not considering FLP, because I am going to install SLP's new H-Pipe with resonator to go along with my already existing LoudMouth Exhaust.
FLP sell's as a full replacement back to the exhaust, which I don't want.

Awwwww, don't be like everybody else! Get the SLPs and be a pioneer! They are tuned, stainless steel, and coated for a good price - what else could you want? Proven results? That's what I want you to tell us. :D

If you wANT 1 KIT THAT HAS EVERY THING BUT THE CAT BACKS ITS THE flp NOT CHEAP AT 1549.00 BUT INCLUDES LONG TUBES STRAIGHT PIPES,x PIPE low restriction Cats that work!!! and add power and slip fits nice to a set of stingers.
If you want to save money give us a shout we have TPIS on sale a fantastic deal for the money Nates been selling them 5 years with minimal problems(occasional UPS breakage can happen on all long tube 1/2%)The Tpis give you some nice low end power as wll as GOBS of mid range Tqe. are fairly EZ to install and we have sold hundreds with all being happy.
If your doing your own install the FLP's with all they come with take 4 hours the TPIS take 6.Yours Truly Dave S.

I have TPIS and am extremely happy with the fit/finish and quality. I didn't care to much for the idea of welding them to the X-pipe, but I don't have any plans of taking them off. Pretty tough to beat for under $900.

Also - which vendors from this forum sell those?
