Default traction control abs lights come on intermittently

Hello all

Can anyone that has actually had this specific problem (it has to be a lot of you) give me any insight ....

why the traction control and abs lights come up on the dash when I 1st start my car but when I remove the key and restart they are gone? I have no codes showing when I run them on the dash just the service lights when first starting my car. They go away if I shut my car off and restart.

I have 2 keys and both do it so it's not the key. My bcm is fine and works normally no other issues, and I hardly drive the car and live in florida so no rusty corrosion under my car... if you had or have the same exact issues please share with all of us. I read write ups about this buy almost all of you had a code showing and could be the wheel speed sensor. I have no codes.

One guy on c5 facebook forum said the dealer removed his seat and replaced something under his seat which sounds incorrect because I have had my seats out and there is nothing there but a wiring harness for the power seat. Any answers would be very very helpful

thanks!

I'm betting on voltage issues. I'm assuming I should probably replace my battery. It was on my car when I bought it almost 4 years ago. It has never failed to start the car but if the car sits for several weeks (seldom that happens) it will be a little slower to turn over.

Thank you for the kind reply. I am familiar with how to run them and will run them monday before I shut off the car and repost what it shows. Thanks again!

Don't have a good answer for you, but I am curious as well. I have the same issue from time to time as well. Sometimes I can't clear the code sitting still in the car, but once I start rolling and attempt to clear the code, it goes away and functions fine. One time I did this I felt the brake pedal 'pump' or do something slightly. Doesn't seem to be a real issue (yet), just kind of annoying.

I hear ya and I am selling my car and I cant explain all this to the new owner that "it just happens part of owning a corvette" I have used that excuse long enough for all the other bs issues all these cars have. There are way too many to name but to name a few.. heads up display falling down ($.05 screw to fix it 4 hours to remove and replace dash) , service column lock, pull key wait 10 secs, wipers keep going after they are shut off, rocking seats, ac blowing warm one side cold the other, key fob not communicating, gas refill cover not opening up unless you smack it.. now the abs and service traction control. These cars were so poorly designed and I owned 3 of them and all 3 had the same exact issues no matter what year. All this happened on mine within 40,000 miles. This is unacceptable for the most expensive American car made. Owned 8 vettes and the C4 was my best one. Never broke down never any codes.. C5=nothing but problems. Hell my Triumph TR7 ran better than my C5's and that was one of the poorest designed cars made next to the yugo Uggh

I wish it was that easy but I replaced my battery 8 months ago and it is at 13.5-14 at start up.. Still doing it. Hope this is a simple fix
