After reading through the forum, I believed that I was experiencing a lazy clutch where the pedal sometimes wouldn't return all the way back to its original position. However I'm now having problems shifting as well. It seems as though when the clutch is all the way in it hasn't completely disengaged the gears. Has anyone experienced this? Is it possible its time for a new clutch, the car does have 48k miles on it?

Re: Help clutch problems!! (pmargiott)
I experienced the same thing earlier this year. Turns out the slave cylinder was the culprit. When you replace the slave, I would recommend using the '02 Z06 unit. Direct fit, better unit and it comes with a new release(throw out) bearing. Unfortunately the labor for this job is several times more than the parts. Unless you happen to be particularly hard on your clutch, I'll bet you it is still in very good condition and won't need to be replaced. If you do, then I would recommend the Z06 unit in this area too unless you plan on some really serious power additions later on.
sounds like mine when my slave and throwout bearing died. i had it fixed under warranty since i still had a 12/12 on the clutch assembly. dunno what the cost would be. for me to get a new 2002 z06 clutch, slave, and throwout bearing in mine though (i'm on my 3rd clutch now so i know the prices) was about $1300 (p&l). i had it done at the dealer - they have a guy there who specializes in c5 clutches and has installed every brand of aftermarket clutch in c5s. i have seen prices of $600 - $1600 on the forum for the same job though at other places.
Same exact problem I had - I had hard shifts and gear grinds as well. Put up with it for 6 months trying to nail the problem down! I have extended warranty but no help from GM!
I first bled the clutch and that fixed it for a few weeks, then problem came back. GM dealer bled clutch, charged me $90, problem came back. They said replace clutch, I said BS! I then had the clutch master cylinder replaced with modified M/C for less line restriction, same thing - fixed for a few weeks then the problem came back. Went to a Corvette shop who does GMPP got run-around - told that clutch actuator (slave and bearing) is a wear item! :mad Went to a different GM dealer and was told it would be fixed under warranty no problem, until I brought it in then no one had time to do it.
Totally PO'd, a friend asked to take the car for a spin - I threw him the keys and told him to drive it like he stole it. He popped the clutch and power shifted the car for about 15 minutes and guess what - it's now fixed! Must have been something mis-adjusted. If you don't mind abusing you clutch you might just jar something loose and fix it.
Mine's been fine now for over 2 weeks - shifts like it was brand new!
