intermittant A/C?

Yesterday our 2001 started doing something new. The A/C will only work sometimes. About half the time you try to turn it on, the A/C light will light and then go out. The A/C will then blow warm air. If you shut the car off and restart it, the A/C may work perfect. Then, it may or may not work on the next start up. I originally thought about a bad ground, but the odd part is, once it's on, it won't go off by itself until the key is cycled.

I would pull the codes through the DIC to see if there might be an actuator issue, but most likely it is a little low on Freon. That will make the a/c light flash and go off.

OK... No HVAC codes in the system. When the A/C stays on, it will get cold enough to chase you out of the car.

I have the same problem, I guess Ill go check the codes, as it get pretty cold, but still lacks

You'll have to trust me on this. Or you could go to Google and search "C5 a/c won't stay on" and read the many cases where it fixed it. Low Freon can cause it. Does your outside air temp read correctly?

Yes. Outside air temp reads correctly.

I've seen a couple of posts about electrical problems from dirty ignition switches. The intermittent A/C is one.

I have this issue on occasion and have a clean used one ready to install when it gets too annoying

Do a search on this and you'll find some good write ups on how to clean your ignition contact terminals
