I've seen ads for additives for radiators that claim to improve cooling by making water molecules improve contact with metal surfaces and thus transferring heat better.
I put it in two years ago on 99 standard, great product. I was running low 200 around town in dallas heat, put in two bottles with 25 percent dex cool and the rest distilled water, now in heavy traffic 190, and freeway 170, but I also installed 160 thermostadt.
I used it in my Triumph Daytona 600 liquid cooled bike a few years ago and dropped apox 20 degrees in town driving, Haven't tried it in anything else tho.
It works.
Changes the surface tension of the water to eliminate micro air bubbles at the coolant rad-surface interface. The more complete contact of coolant with the rad surface increases heat exchange and thus slightly (10-20 degrees) reduces coolant temperature
Ditto. Best results achieved with NO anti-freeze, just tap water and Water Wetter. NEVER use distilled water; the ionic imbalance will strip aluminum and even copper from the metals in contact. Some add water-soluble oil for water pump, but we stopped using it and never saw any bad effects. We also use 10% anti-freeze to allow better protection of aluminum components, but Water Wetter by itself is supposed to protect just as well.
Only issue is to make sure you are using the proportions specified on the bottle. Some folks add a single bottle (like adding STP) and expect results. You have to maintain the correct proportions, but it does indeed work. How do I know for sure, other than observation? The gurus at IBM Mainframe tech always used it in their water-cooled super rigs; tests showed consistent 12% advantage over water, and up to 20% over 30/70 antifreeze mix, over wide range of temperatures.
BTW, for some reason, the cheapest price is at Pep Boys (stock item).
