Default Hood Bolt Woes

I took my hood off to make some work easier and made my life harder in turn. I removed the bolts that go from the hinge to the hood itself (think I maybe should have removed the hood with the hinges from the body). Upon reinstalling, in my haste, I must have snapped whatever threads are in the hood because one bolt didn't thread in all the way and has since fallen out.

Has anyone had this issue and fixed it? I am tossing around the idea of trying an epoxy or resin and drilling and tapping that. For reference, I found on another thread that the part number is 12551187 and the bolts are M8x1.25x32.

Thanks for any tips or input.

The factory bolt is metric I believe and the self taping bolt I used is not.
That's a good idea. I may try to see if a slightly larger bolt will actually fit into the hole.
