Haven't heard of that, however I have had my weatherstripping redone on the rear hatch since after washing or rain when raising the trapped water drained into the speakers.
There's a new design that has gutters that flare out when opened that steer the water away from the speakers however only at about 80% efficiency.
I've definitely heard of it. I had the EXACT same problem, but mine was very subtle. When I received my 2002 coupe (new from the factory) I put a box of my business cards in the right storage compartment. One week later, there wasn't any standing water in the compartment, but the cards had some mold on them. I took it in to the dealership, and it was a leak in one of the tail light assemblies. They found it by pulling the carpet back, and spraying the area with the high-pressure sprayer that they use to wash the cars on the lot. They found the leak, patched it, and all is well ever since. Hope this helps!!! :seeya
