GM abandons C5's (some)

The GM inigition failures may have begun before we heard about it. I have a 2001 that died while driving 4 times. After three attempts at repair the fourth finally revealed a cooked under hood fuse box, part #1044-3149. It turns out that GM stopped production without telling anyone (it was only used for two years) and we can't find NOS only scavanged parts. Has anyone else had the same problem and does anyone know where to get that part.

Why do you think the 2001 fuse box design (not P/N) only applied to 2 years?

P/Ns change all the time for minor reasons, mostly a different supplier.

Mechanic said that is the case with this part--I took his word

check out this web site,,( WildcatVetteParts.com) has a crate full and a boat load of other parts (All C5) ....had same problem W/my 01 coupe..spent several grand before finding the gremlin.
