I'd like to replace my stock air bridge with an aftermarket air duct. I just need to know if there's any difference between the different aftermarket air ducts? Are they all the same or is one better than the other? Thanks!
You'll get many opinions on this one. If you review the Mallet catalog, even their most extreme package utilzes the stock air bridge. I've heard some claim that the stock unit is good to 600HP+. That being said, here's my take:
I've had first hand experience, either visual inspection or actual installation, with the offerings from BPP, WCC and Halltech. IMHO, the Halltech is far and away the finest unit from as far as craftsmanship goes. The others have only fair finish or the longitudinal seam is quite pronounced. The Halltech utilizes a very sophisticated seal to the MAF.
I intalled mine for the aestetic beauty and took any performance advantages as a bonus. While I did not perform a baseline dyno, my stock LS1 with only the Halltech bridge with a Blackwing (and removed MAF screen) turned 319.5 RWHP on the DynoJet. With a H/C setup like yours you may see more incremental increases from an airbridge.
If you opt for the Halltech, be forwarned:
1) It is the most expensive (got mine from Corvette Mike for $299 and I've seen them elsewhere for more - shop around)
2) Most places will try to sell you an entire Halltech Sidewinder system - The Halltech bridge IS available separately if you look.
3) It is taller than the others - I experienced very slight interference with the hood liner - Just enough to put a small dimple in the fabric.
If your already has a aftermarket filter, the bridge is pretty much worth no HP inprovment, maybe 0-3hp. Most people just buy for looks, so get one that you think looks good.
I was told I could gain 5-10 rwhp with the air-bridge. COH is selling one for $169 which looks like almost every other air bridge out there, so should I just order that one and save some cash?

One more Q, would a Z06 MAF help me at all?

Yeh, and you can buy a Tornado and get another 20% more hp to. Seriously, some manufactors were quoting numbers that no one else can get. Some claim the tests were with a stock intake were any additional amount of air helps a lot, with you already having an aftermarket filter (like everyone else that buys them) they are worth next to nothing. My 0-3hp number may even be on the high side.
Got the airbridge and silicone coupler from LAPD for ~$270. Definitely a looks-only upgrade. That's the only reason I bought it. Zero, zip, nada increase in making this switch.
Jayson @ MTI did a dyno test with the different airbridges on his 422. They found no gain in any vendors bridge on a big inch motor, where the gains should have been greater. Yes, it is a looks only mod.
Very good info to have...why spend money on a mod that will void your warranty, cost big $, takes time to install, makes NO HP gains and is only for looks...that is, if you drive with your hood removed...but seriously,
if it does not void the warranty (if you care) and you like the way it looks and you can still provide for your family...buy it!!!!

I bought the TORNADO...yeah, I did...but not for the vette. It actually did increase our MPG (on-board comp) by 3 mpg Highway, 1 or 2 city.
