Default Where to start for solid building blocks?

I am starting my long process ( 2year goal ) of building my car to handle between 800 to 1000rwhp. Now the motor part will come later but before then I wish to build up my foundation. Rear end, Axles Transmission, clutch. I have a 97 Targa 6 speed. Yes there is a somewhat of a budget, around 25k most of which I suspect will be the motor and Transmission. But before that goes on can easily buy and install other parts as I go along because I do drive my car but its not a daily driver.

1- My clutch is already on the last leg, should I replace it with one that will handle the power I wish to make or just replace it with one for RIGHT now?

2- Trans and Diff- Been over looking RPM 6k for both. Level 6 and 4

3- Axles?- Haven't really researched this too much.

4- Full long block Motor- Not completely decided on size but something around a 427 or 408. Something like that with around 9.5-1 comp.

5- SC or Turbo- Again not sure, but I am really digging a Novi2200

Any opinions are greatly welcomed.

Josh

I would post in FI section to get answers from those who have "been there, done that" and probably broke that too. Good luck! I'm glad to hear you are looking into upgrading the entire driveline, that kind of power would overwhelm a stock drivetrain.
Make sure your suspension and brakes are ready for your new power.

The plan is to do the driveline first since it's how you get the power to the pavement

Heres a couple recommendations i would suggest do to experience, and many conversations with others.

Clutch: Mcleod RXT i have seen this clutch prove its self over and over with high horse power applications such as the C6 Z06 record holder used.

Trans and Diff: I would definitely stick with RPM top guys in the industry. We are planning on running the same power level we are using the C6 Zo6 rear diff with upgraded output shafts. As Far as the levels they sell we just went with what ever rodney said. But it is there 700hp 4L65 which weve had great success with.

Axels: we are staying with stock C5 axels since they seem to be the strongest OEM axels on the market with out upgrading to the ZR1 hub.

I would also suggest getting the Drive Shaft Shop C5 driveshaft with upgraded ZR1 coupler.

Motor: A stroked 6.0L block would work great for either CI size.

Supercharger. I would definitely go YSI if your plan to run that kinda cubic inch. You will get alot more out it in my opinion

Turbo: we are running twin precision 6766 on a 6.0 LS2 and plan to put down 800-900 detuned with 1400hp worth of turbos.

Hope all this helps
