Hey guys whats up in my 99 frc i think it is alot harder to shift through the gears it doesnt feel smooth anymore the clutch feels a little rougher also i think what does this mean??? Thankz
My 99 hardtop got hard to shift and the clutch engagement was down near the floor. Turned out to be the master cylinder leaking by the piston. replaced it with the Mcleod unit and shifting is smooth again. Don't wait too long as this is very hard on the syncronizers. The stock master cylinder is a cheesy plastic unit.
I got my shifts to smooth out by replacing the fluid in my gear box after 20,000 miles. I suck out a bunch of the clutch fluid and replace it after every weekend of racing. I use a turkey baster to do it.
I had the same problem for 6 months. First, I bled the clutch hydraulics, then I replaced the clutch master cylinder. After each "repair" the problem went away for a few hours then came back.
Took it to dealer for clutch slave cylinder replacement under GMPP extended warranty, got run around. Went to Corvette Shop who does GMPP got run around.
Got PO'd and friend wanted to drive my car. Threw him the keys and told him to drive it like he stole it. After 15 minutes of beating the crap out of the car (power shifting and popping the clutch) the problem has been gone for 2 weeks now. Something may have come out of adjustment, but I don't know what.
Let us know if you decide to beat the car and if that fixes the problem or not.
