I think I'd like to have some handy along with better gaskets for when I take the heads off again. Anyone know of some good prices? Anyone cheaper than Summit? Thanks
Re: Who has best $ on headbolt studs? (ScreaminDemon)
David, save your money. :) Stock bolts and gaskets work fine. We have Dave's 427TT running 13-15lbs of boost (apprx 900hp and over 1000lbs trq) with no problems. I do not know of anyone ever having a problem with the bolts and gaskets. Just my .02
Nate
ps- stock pushrods too on the 427TT! i laugh when i read tuners/vendors advertising hardened pushrods a must with head and cam kits...
Re: Who has best $ on headbolt studs? (ScreaminDemon)
I just hate to have to buy new bolts and gaskets every time I take the heads off.
I agree.. For the extra few bucks, I would definitely get the ARP head stud setup so you have re-usable, higher quality, and stronger fasteners holding your heads on.
13psi Boost with stock head bolts? That sounds pretty crazy to me!
Stock pushrods, well I can see the logic in that because they act like fuses, but I don't feel like changing pushrods all the time.
Re: Who has best $ on headbolt studs? (Slammed Vette)
this could turn out to be a really good thread. i am going back and forth with a couple members on this very subject. though i dont get a warm/fuzzy with TTY (torq-to-yield) head bolts, i have heard they work just fine, even with lots of nitrous. there are those that feel they need the head studs and cut the heads for oringed gaskets for heavy nitrous use. let's see where this goes....anyone out there want to share their EXPERIENCES (not just opinions)? i know myself (with the new LQ4 stroker on the way) and Michael (austrian vette) are at a crossroads on this suject.
Great, I'll check with Katech on the ARP studs. Well what about the gaskets, are there any reuseable ones that maintain the stock thickness? I can't use a thinner one with my setup. Thanks
