detonation on my 2000
I have a friend that has a 2000 coupe and it has detonation. He took it to the gm garage and they said it was common in 2000's. has anyone else had this problem? They said gm is coming out with a fix soon (probably a new chip). He has not talked to anyone else with this problem.

I just bought my 2000 C5 and it was detonating bad under light throttle. I reset the PCM after learning about it on this site. The car immediately ran better and the detonation was completely gone. The car is alot more responsive too. Since then I have installed a Donaldson filter and I still don't have any detonation.

Is it a six-speed? If so, you can recommend the pvc fix mentioned in a post above. You can simply disconnect the neg.bat. terminal for a few minutes to allow the pcm to "forget" some old, bad habits. :D What type of air intake/filter does it have. Is the MAF screen still in? May be running lean.

I have had the problem after changing the cam at wide open throttle. Tuning should take car of the problem, soon I hope. :)
