The no comms mean NO COMMUNICATION to/from the particular module, ever hear of GOOGLE?

Default Thank you for your gracious reply,

I have seldom run across anyone with a finer grasp of the idiom.
Ever heard of courtesy?

The only codes related to TCS (Traction Control System) are:

28 TCS no comm
and
U1040 HC

This means the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module) is unable to communicate via the single wire "serial bus" There could be several reasons. Would you like to try and do some diagnostics?

As for the other codes here is a list you can review. If you want to deal with anything else I would suggest doing it on one or more other Threads so as not to clutter this one up.

Default Hi Dadaroo

Yes, I looked up those codes also, now, what to do. As I mentioned,
I'm not what you would call "handy" but I would be grateful for any help.
Any chance that it is the fuse? Don't laugh.

Default Ok......I figured out that the B codes are unimportant right now.

The c1214 seems like the main culprit.

You have a 2001 so one of the several abs fixers on e-bay should be able to help you out. That code indicates a bad relay which is one of the problems they fix. Just have someone pull the ebcm and send it to them. They usually have a quick turnaround time.

Default thanks big gun, here's a REAL silly question.

Since I drive the vette like an old lady, except for the occasional hwy trip,
is it really necessary to have the abs/traction thingy hooked up?

No. Just keep in mind you will not have ABS/Traction/Stability control to your aid. Plus your dash will be lit. I had the wonderful C1214 code years ago and i took the module off and sent it off my self, covered the connections with plastic and duck tape, and drove her. My module came back to me in a weeks time good as new.

You would be sacrificing a lot of technology, if you give up fixing the EBCM, too easily.
The TC, the ABS, and the AHS are wonderful help to keep the car straight, and between the ditches. No matter how carefuly you think you are. YouTube is full of videos, of guys whose car 'got away from them', and they probably thought they were being careful, or they thought they were better drivers able to handle all this power.

If it is just the C1214, that is one easily fixed by ABSFixer, and others, as previously mentioned.
It's easy to get the module off, just six screws after you undo the two wire connectors. I would advise you send in the EBCM, to be fixed.

Yes, you can drive the car without the tecnology (ABS, TC, AHS) helping you. It's just like old hydrolic brakes. But......

best of luck, whatever you decide,
Don

ABSFixer is also a well know repair facility. Here is a link including removal guidance.

http://www.absfixer.com/how_do_i_remove.php

NEVER pull on the wires, just the connector. Also make sure you first release the connector retainer that holds/keeps it in place.

Let us know if you need any more help.
