My apologies, as I'm not very mechanically inclined.
I have an 01 base C5 Automatic with no mods. It has around 67K on it. The last few times I've driven it, I noticed that the idle seems really low with it in gear. It idles around 500 RPM or so (with A/C on) and when I'm approaching a stop, it dips down below 500 to around 400 RPM or so and then steadies back out at approx. 500. Is this normal? Should I run a fuel treatment though it? If so, which one? Should I forgo that and it get tuned up or the idle adjusted.
I bought it used in February and I'm not sure if it's been tuned or not. Thanks!
I have the exact issue. I believe it is buildup in the Throttle Body. I added an oil separator about 2 years ago and the problem hasn't got worse. At some point I will pull the TB and clean it...I wish the original owner put one of these catch cans on, as I think it would have kept that area cleaner based on the volume of oil I catch. I have 36K miles.
