Default 3rd time should be a charm

I have not received any replies from my two previous posts on this issue. My E brake light does not come on with the E brake on. The DRLs are always on even with the E brake on. The hatch will not open with the engine running and E brake on. I suspect the switch on the E brake is bad. Has anyone else experienced this problem? To get to the switch you have to remove the passenger seat. I got no problems with that but I don't want to go chase after something that may be a fuse or bad ground. Some help would be greatly appreciated.

I would be glad to look at the schematic later when I get home. I also suspect the switch is bad.

I'll be happy to work with you. Never saw your other posts, sorry. Mr. Sam

Thanks for chiming in. I too suspect the switch and hope some guidance will give me the confidence to fix this.

I looked at the FSM. The switch is "closed" when the parking brake is on. The ground for the switch is right there where it mounts. It is fed power from the IPC by one Tan/White wire. When the switch closes the power flow is apparently picked up by the IPC (and dash light goes on) and feeds that signal info to the serial bus for use with related functions.

Hope that helps. More likely your switch is bad versus a wire, ground, or IPC issue. Let me know if I can help further.

Mr. Sam

PS: No fuse in the circuit.

There are several different pats numbers based on year. It does not show as a separate part but in the parts book I have it is sold as part of the lever assembly.

Suggest you try GMPartsHouse or your local dealer. If you want used, I highly recommend VetteNuts who is a Forum vendor here.

Let me know what else I can do.

I went to multiple on line GM parts distributors and this p/n is not recognized. I'll have to go the dealer direct. Thanks.

You can always test to make sure it is the switch and not an open circuit by jumpering the switch terminals temporarily with a wire or clip lead. If that turns on your Ebrake lite it is the switch. I would then try a proper switch cleaner/lubricant first, not WD40 or anything like that. I have used Nu-trol for years to clean switches and contacts and it works wonders. I just finished rebuilding a 1958 Juke box with hundreds of contacts and it works flawlessly. Spray a bunch right inside the switch through any holes or cracks you see. operate the switch several times and it may come back to life.
