Correct me if Im wrong but as I understood, the Corvette's ECU is fixed and could not benefit from "piggy-back" aftermarket chips out there. You have to 'flash' your ECU with a new program (and save your old settings) in order to change your parameters thus enhancing your Vette. I think is is true with even some Chevy/Trucks. If there are chips out there that would connect directly to the Vette ECU then it is yet to prove itself.

Re: Do Computer Chips Make a Difference? (BluGem)
:nonod: The old "Put in a chip" mentality doesn't apply anymore. The computers in these cars are too sophisticated. Custom programming can yield great results though, and that becomes more and more necessary the more you mod the car.
Re: Do Computer Chips Make a Difference? (WildKarrde)
Reprogramming PCM should be one of the first mods you do, highly recommend it! Do a search on this you will come up with many satisfied customers of Programmers suchas Ed Wright! :yesnod:
there is no "aftermarket chip" for your car.
there is almost no gain to be had with your mods by changing your PCM programming, which will void your powertrain warranty and be a waste of money.
the Automatic C5's get programming changes to firm up the shifts.
the stock programming is incredibly sophisticated, and at the safe stock A/F ratios, gets about all you're going to get out of your car. especially staying emissions legal. leaning it out for a few hp is not good sense to me. until you change cam and/or do big head work the stock programming is fine. I challenge anyone to show before/after dyno charts with a stock car with programming (Ed Wright or anyone else) changes that would indicate this is a worthwhile 'mod'.
there are vendors out there that tout their 'custom programming' reflash your PCM product, "gain 20 rwhp on a stock C5". yeah right..

I have time slips that show a gain of 2/10ths after the install of the PLII...installed at the track and the before and after runs were made within minutes of each other
I own a 2002 Vert 6-sp and am wondering if any Chips increase HP. What kind of HP gain. I have the Donaldson Air Box and Corsa Indys.

Its simple on a 6-speed Manual car its 0 HP and no improvement in times, on a Automatic is still about 0 HP, but improves shift points and speed of shifts and is good for a significant improvment in times... its a good mod for Autos, not for MN6s.
Re: Do Computer Chips Make a Difference? (ncvetteman)
ncvetteman, your mistaken about 0HP, Ed does more than change shift firmness! You need to give him a call" to get your mind right" or e-mail him at http://www.fastchip.com . My car was noticeably faster after the reprogram! :yesnod:

Do you have a MN6 or Auto? I know they are worth in on Auto's, but there have been many people that have dynoed with next to no gain, unless you have signifant mods or otherwise have car that needs tunning for what ever reason. On close to stock MN6s programing = 0 improvement.
